Awesome work! Was great to play, I got given lots of fire damage upgrades so went all in on that!
Thank you for playing!
I think the concept is fine, though I find it hard to predict how shadow element changes. Sometimes it follows whatever element I use, sometimes it gets stuck on whichever element it had earlier. Other than that, the variety of spells was nice, but in practice I preferred to opt for a single-element build, in part because I couldn't tell how shadow's elements worked, and in part because it was too much thinking on top of trying to target down the enemies following me.
The gameplay felt a bit clunky - part of that may be my laptop not being the demon of the speed, so the framerate would be pretty limited? But also I felt like the second area in particular was really cramped, and on top of that I'd sometimes get stuck in a sneaky corner. Sometimes I also wouldn't see enemies that were right next to me, and there didn't seem to be auditory feedback for their melee attacks. I feel like having the game follow the third person perspective could alleviate some of these issues, as I'd be able to see nearby walls and melee attackers.
Still, I enjoyed casting spells here and there and the variety of upgrades was nice. I won't judge the assets, because by your own admission they were mostly external ones. Still, it's pretty nicely put together, I just wish the game (especially the second area) was a bit more spacious, to give better opportunities for outmaneuver the enemies.
Thank you for your feedback! You can change the Shadow's element by hiting him with whatever elemental missile you want, and he will equip the element. It is written in one of the tutorial book in the lobby, but now I know very few read those and I'll try to make it clearer.
I'm aware of the issues you mentionned and I'll do my best to fix them :)
this is so much fun it's insane how many models, animations, and attacks there are
Good luck with the jam
This was so much fun, I can't believe all the models you have in this game it's unreal. There's so much polish!
So I loved the spell mixing mechanics and I appreciated the books in the first room explaining it and how it all worked, the spell cheat sheet on a hotkey was a great touch too.
I don't really get the point of moving the shadow around to be honest, it's a cool mechanic but It doesn't really seem to add any value to the game? I just stuck him in the middle of the rooms and spamming right click to whatever I needed him to do.
The variety of models and environments is insane and really cool, the world feels so detailed because of this. The art was great and I loved all the monster designs.
The audio was fine, it was just some basic SFX and music. Nothing special but it's better than complete silence.
We gotta talk about the 2nd level boss though is it beatable? I got it down to 0 health twice and it just fully recovered then destroyed me. I wish there was some sort of sprint/dash mechanic cos enemies getting in your face is a death sentence especially if they corner you at the walls of the room.
The chests felt awesome and I loved the choice of upgrades. STORM WIZARD BABYEEEEEH.
Thank you for the super detailed review! Obviously I used assets for environments/models, otherwise I could never have done this game in 14 days.
You can cancel the 2nd boss healing by stunning him! I agree this is not obvious but it forces players to use different elements and not spam damages spell.
I plan on adding new content that would make it more interesting to move around the shadow :)
Thank you for your feedback!
Very fun game, I am a sucker for roguelikes :)
A bit clunky sometimes, seems like every once in a while (on level transition maybe) I was forced to look at the ground, which threw me off. Regardless, very impressive game in such a short timespan!
Anyone who is saying there is anything wrong with the concept or ideas is wrong IMO. Awesome game, proly top 3 ive seen in this jam and I think that if you fleshed out more of the mechanics you could make some money off this!
Hey. I heavily enjoyed this game, but I found a bug where sometimes when I enter the final room I just fall through the floor infinitely.
Thanks for the comment, it will be fixed once the jam is over
Some polishin , a direct connect coop and im sold. Nice job
Thank you! I plan on polishing it after the jam
I came. I strafed. I conquered. Then I got stuck on a wall and slowly levitated in place until the second boss killed me.
Concept is Fine. Like, as a Roguelike, it works. I don't think this would be a good roguelike. I think it would be a good Adventure game, maybe with some lite magic puzzle or Metroid elements.
Use ice to freeze water. Use fire to boil milk. Who knows.
Obviously I think it's insane that you made this in 2 weeks. 10/10.
Hey, thanks for your feedback, I think it's a fair analysis. Thought I believe it could become very good with more polishing, better relics and enemies.
Thanks for the kind words, obviously I did not model all the assets myself but it was still a huge amount of work
I like the game idea. I feel like the mechanic of moving the shadow around would lend well to a top down perspective as well. A lot of fun though! Great job!
Cool game ! Would make for a great VR game. I'd suggest giving the player control over the mouse sensitivity the camera mouvement seemed really brutal for me.
Hey, thanks for the comment! There is now an option to change mouse sensitivity (Y key) :)
Please add invert mouse option. Otherwise cool game.
Cool game, but when i leave the first room i spawn in unity blank space, check it out so it doesnt happen when submission is over, good luck :D!
Thank you for the feedback, not sure what happened, I think you got unlucky. Anyway I just made some adjustments that should prevent this from happening again :)
Fun game, but needs sfx for casting spells, switching spells. moving around the arena. A dodge mechanic would be nice to have to avoid spells and other effects
I'll try my best to implement sfx tomorrow if I have time
Very nice, would love sound effects and a little more hit feedback, but great gameplay loop overall, some enemies are spawning outside of the map and some enemies are hurting you after they die. Regardless really well done
Thanks for your feedback, the two bugs you mentioned should be fixed now!
Really cool game, I feel like if the mechanics of what each element and item does is explained better visually ingame this could definitely be a top contender for winning.
Currently I just spam left & right click then some thunder storm came down, really cool. I just have no idea what's going on.
Thanks for the kind words! There are some books in the starting room explaining the story and what combination does what, but I agree it could be clearer. I'm working on balancing spells
Yeah I just didn't read that lmao.
I like it!
